Sex Therapy and Trauma Counseling
Offering online therapy services for individuals and couples throughout Virginia and Maryland
Healing Intimacies is a private pay practice. This means you pay directly for sessions. No insurance involvement, no required diagnosis, no insurance company dictating the pace or nature of your care.
Just you, your therapist, and the work.
Insurance companies require a diagnosis, and often dictate the number of sessions a client can meet with their therapist. Those are limits I do not wish to place on my clients.

Why Private Pay?
Insurance companies require a psychiatric diagnosis and proof that services are "medically necessary" before they'll reimburse for care. That means your therapist is required to label you, and that label becomes part of your permanent health record. It also means insurance companies can limit how many sessions you receive, what modalities can be used, and how your treatment unfolds.
Private pay removes all of that. Your care is determined by you and your therapist. Not by what an insurance algorithm will approve.
Superbills
If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement from your insurance provider. Upon request, a superbill (an itemized receipt) can be provided after each session for you to submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by plan — we recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.
Payment Payment is due at the time of service. Major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards are accepted.
